The result was a very competitive Trials <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><em><strong>car</strong></em></span>, but also suitable for circuit racing. <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><em><strong>Chapman</strong></em></span> used the <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><em><strong>car</strong></em></span> to compete in events sponsored by the 750 Motor Club. Although Chapman built the car to compete in English Trials events, he also entered the <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><em><strong>car</strong></em></span> in track events, such as Silverstone, where he won in his class. From that point forward, <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><em><strong>Chapman</strong></em></span> would concentrate on designing and constructing <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><em><strong>cars</strong></em></span> for race circuits instead of trials <span style="text-decoration: underline;">Lotus Cars</span>.<br /><br /><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><em><strong>Ford</strong></em></span> Sidevalve Motor:<br /><br />* Config: S4 SV<br />* Displacement: 1172 cc<br />* Bore/Stroke: 63.5 mm (2.5 in) x 92.456 mm (3.6 in)<br /><br /></div><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a title="The History Lotus Classic Car models with Lotus Mark I" href="http://lotus-classic-car.blogspot.com/2010/06/history-lotus-classic-car-models-with.html">The History Lotus Classic Car models with Lotus Cars Mark I</a></div>CarClassichttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15336900685875273726noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9128838027083002463.post-74098232276786899192010-06-27T11:32:00.000-07:002010-06-27T11:32:00.094-07:00The History Lotus Classic Car models with Lotus Mark I<h1 style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-weight: bold;">The History Lotus Classic Car models with Lotus Mark I</span></h1><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDQioO2S0z-ORnbRgiEepLK1W98CEBxJTwHUhvm2fZ1J3GDr7xqf6ykmqWliWTGsRugMsG6QrGgPUFfuf5PCcEJsVgGDlzeylUdcekOpayk2CPGOvpqFXe4T9YHaApEPHCuBnAcXqf5kI/s1600/Lotus_Mark_1.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 358px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDQioO2S0z-ORnbRgiEepLK1W98CEBxJTwHUhvm2fZ1J3GDr7xqf6ykmqWliWTGsRugMsG6QrGgPUFfuf5PCcEJsVgGDlzeylUdcekOpayk2CPGOvpqFXe4T9YHaApEPHCuBnAcXqf5kI/s400/Lotus_Mark_1.jpg" alt="Lotus Classic Cars" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5471196315716703058" border="0" /></a>Picture Of <span style="font-weight: bold;">Lotus Classic Cars</span><br /></div><br /><div style="text-align: justify;">The <span style="font-weight: bold;">Lotus Mark I</span> was the first car designed and built by <span style="font-weight: bold;">Colin Chapman</span> in 1948, while <span style="font-weight: bold;">Chapman</span> was still a student at the University of London. The car was designed to compete as a trials car, and was constructed on an <span style="font-weight: bold;">Austin 7</span> chassis and running gear. <span style="font-weight: bold;">Chapman </span>built the body utilizing a composite made of thin aluminum bonded to plywood. He modified the rear suspension to give better handling and the engine to give more power. His approach to automobile construction using sound engineering principles and ingenious chassis design set the stage for many more revolutionary designs to follow. Although the original <span style="font-weight: bold;">Mark I</span> has been lost to history, a replica (see photo) was created to the same dimensions that uses an identical <span style="font-weight: bold;">Austin</span> chassis and running gear. Both <span style="font-weight: bold;">Chapman</span> and his future wife competed with the car in English Trials, a form of competition over rough terrain against time. <span style="font-weight: bold;">Chapman</span> continued to develop and modify the <span style="font-weight: bold;">Mark I</span>. First larger wheels and tyres were fitted and the front beam axle was split and hinged in the center to provide independent front suspension. The success of the car helped encourage <span style="font-weight: bold;">Chapman</span> to continue designing competition cars.</div>CarClassichttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15336900685875273726noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9128838027083002463.post-38951524160066857692010-06-22T11:19:00.000-07:002010-06-22T11:19:00.169-07:00Lotus Classic Cars in Current The End Part<h1 style="text-align: center;"><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span style="font-weight: bold;">Lotus Classic Cars in Current The End Part<br /></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></h1><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghDMmIkGlZKJBdFGRwFr7M94iVf6do-HZpT0eBthPTipYfFxyh8fEu-1kOgfnbNM8cDL_e4dpDiJEo_a7bSG3CgPG_K5M3hpnIIVQ0UlLQDin3m8g36EGaZPTPdfPV2BR24L78rD_o7DE/s1600/2010-Lotus-Evora-Type-124-Endurance-Racecar-Front-Angle-Speed-1920x1440.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghDMmIkGlZKJBdFGRwFr7M94iVf6do-HZpT0eBthPTipYfFxyh8fEu-1kOgfnbNM8cDL_e4dpDiJEo_a7bSG3CgPG_K5M3hpnIIVQ0UlLQDin3m8g36EGaZPTPdfPV2BR24L78rD_o7DE/s400/2010-Lotus-Evora-Type-124-Endurance-Racecar-Front-Angle-Speed-1920x1440.jpg" alt="Lotus Classic Cars" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5471192770952069826" border="0" /></a>Picture Of <span style="font-weight: bold;">Lotus Classic Cars</span><br /></div><br />* <span style="font-weight: bold;">Lotus Evora</span> Launched 22 July 2008. A <span style="font-weight: bold;">Lotus Formula One car</span> driven by Stirling Moss won the marque's first Grand Prix in 1960 at Monaco in a <span style="font-weight: bold;">Lotus</span> 18 entered by privateer Rob Walker. Clark's untimely death — he crashed a Formula Two <span style="font-weight: bold;">Lotus</span> 48 in April 1968 after his rear tyre failed in a turn in Hockenheim was a severe blow to the team and to <span style="font-weight: bold;">Formula One</span>.
